Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as a public speaker. Feminist Frequency was created by Sarkeesian. It hosts video clips which include commentary on the depictions of women in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian a Canadian American media critic. In her efforts to break down stereotypes related to women in popular culture, she also works on issues related the harassing women targeted by the media and others online. Sarkeesian is a graduate in the field of political and social thought at York University. As a public speaker, she's well-known and has spoken at TEDxWomenXOXO as well as the United Nations Broadband Working Group. She was interested in gender issues and feminism from a very early time. In 2009, when she was in university she launched the Feminist Frequency site. Someone who hoped to create a web series that examined the gender representation of video games, she was targeted by the internet campaign. This attack was not enough to halt her. It actually made her more committed as a feminist and media critique. She is a recipient of many awards for her contributions to feministism.
